St. Mary’s High School was founded in 1962 on Christian principles, initially enrolling 70 male boarding students with a teaching staff of three. Over its 58 years, the school has grown significantly, enrolling its first female students in 1975. Committed to quality education, St. Mary’s aims to produce well-rounded, morally upright citizens who respect human life and property, guided by the virtues of Unhu/Ubuntu.
The school’s objectives include providing a comprehensive education through academics, sports, and cultural activities, helping students achieve their full potential, and involving parents in the educational process. Currently, St. Mary’s has an enrollment of 1,268 students (605 male and 663 female) and a teaching staff of 53 (30 female and 23 male), along with 11 ancillary staff members. The school also has special classes with 34 students and is actively seeking to fill three teaching vacancies.
